Keanu Nochta Obituary, Bismarck, ND Accident Death: Bismarck Crash Claims Life of Local Man, Injures Child

A tragic intersection collision in Bismarck has left a 30-year-old man dead and a child seriously injured, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities.

The victim, identified as Keanu Nochta, was killed following a violent crash involving a passenger vehicle and a commercial flatbed truck at the intersection of Centennial Road and Century Avenue on Thursday afternoon. According to the Bismarck Police Department, both vehicles entered the intersection around the same time before colliding, resulting in a severe side-impact crash.

Authorities report that Nochta’s vehicle sustained catastrophic damage, and despite emergency response efforts and immediate medical treatment, he later died from his injuries at a local hospital. A 10-year-old child who was also inside the vehicle was rescued from the wreckage by first responders and transported for treatment. Officials say the child sustained significant injuries but is expected to survive.

The driver of the flatbed truck, a 21-year-old man from Mandan, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No charges or citations have been issued at this time as authorities continue to examine traffic signals, speed factors, vehicle data, and witness accounts to determine how the collision occurred.

The intersection, a busy corridor connecting residential and commercial areas, has seen multiple crashes in recent years, raising ongoing concerns about traffic flow and commercial vehicle safety. Investigators are also reviewing surveillance footage and electronic data from both vehicles as part of the reconstruction process.

Community members have begun leaving tributes near the crash site, remembering Nochta as a devoted father and valued member of the community. Grief counselors and victim support services have been made available to those affected.

Officials have urged drivers to exercise heightened caution at intersections, particularly where large commercial vehicles are present, noting that investigations of this nature can take weeks or longer to complete.

As the inquiry continues, authorities say further updates will be released once verified findings are confirmed.
