Dawn Powles Obituary, Strathmerton, Death: Strathmerton Football Netball Club Mourns A Loss

The Strathmerton Football Netball Club has announced with deep sadness the passing of Dawn Powles (Hall), who died on Thursday, 23 April. His passing has left the Strathmerton community in mourning, with many reflecting on his lasting contribution to local sport and community life.

A lifelong Strathmerton local, Dawn was remembered as a proud premiership player and a deeply valued member of the club. Teammates and supporters describe him as committed, respected, and passionate about the game, with a presence that left a strong impression both on and off the field.

Beyond football and netball, he was also connected to the wider community, including Strathmerton Primary School, where his kindness and supportive nature were appreciated by staff and families. His involvement across local spaces reflected a strong commitment to the town he called home.

As a mark of respect, the Strathmerton Football Netball Club will wear black armbands at its next match in his honour. The gesture reflects the grief felt across the club and the wider community.

In addition, the club and Strathmerton Primary School will assist with catering for his funeral service scheduled for Friday, 1 May 2026. Community members have been invited to contribute food donations, including cakes, slices, and sandwiches, in support of the family during this difficult time.

Tributes continue to highlight his character, with many remembering him not only as a player, but as a respected local figure who contributed meaningfully to the life of Strathmerton.
